Most of us would be happy to make a difference in the world, to make it a better place for us and for future generation. It does not have to be something big, a little step here and there will accumulate to be the difference that we seek. For one, we can start with seafood – making the right choices of what to put on our plates.
Overfishing is the number one problem that leads to the extinction of marine life. Our future generation may not know some of the fish that we see today if we don’t do something about it today. Remember the joy of swimming among schools of fishes during your dives. Can you imagine if there is none of those to enjoy because they are all gone? What is there to see during your dives if the marine life are scarce?
Some of us divers goes to the extent of giving up seafood altogether. But for some others, we may do our part simply by ensuring that we don’t end up having endangered species as our meals. Educate the young ones too. Good habits are best learnt when they are young.
Support the PADI ProjectAware’s campaigns and pledge your support to a cause that is close to your heart. The ocean needs us. Every little act matters. Everything starts with us, we can make a difference.
