What to expect at Seaventures Dive Rig
As a diver, you have probably heard of Sipadan – the best dive site in Malaysia (and without a doubt, one of the world’s top 10 dive sites). Seaventures Dive Rig has been in a position close to Mabul and Sipadan island for over 20 years, offering diving day-trips to Sipadan, Mabul, and Kapalai Island. At the dive rig, you can also enjoy breathtaking views of the amazing Borneo Sunset, free, unlimited diving at House Reef, and the unique experience of spending the night on the world’s one and only Dive Rig.
DIVE, EAT, SLEEP, AND REPEAT / BEST DIVING IN MALAYSIA
When Seaventures Dive Rig was converted into a dive resort, it was designed with the needs of divers in mind. We have a full dive deck equipped with everything a diver needs, from a variety of dive equipment (available for hire), NITROX tanks, camera charging stations, and a clear board of daily dive groups/rosters. These will make your stay here stress-free as you will know clearly where things are and when you are going diving at Sipadan, Mabul/Kapalai, making it easy to plan for a land excursion to Mabul or a dive at House Reef. All of our rooms are air-conditioned and come with en suite bathrooms/showers (except for the dorm rooms). There is a restaurant area serving buffet style, freshly cooked hot meals.
On the main deck, you will also find a bar and a fully stocked dessert fridge (with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate making facilities). When you are not out diving the wonderful sites around Sipadan, Mabul, or Kapalai, you can tan on the deck, have a sleep in the hammocks, or play pool in the Games room. Seaventures Dive Rig is not your typical dive resorts on Mabul, but it is certainly a place you will enjoy and never forget.
HOUSE REEF FUN: When you are not diving in Sipadan, Mabul, or Kapalai Island
Most people would love to maximize their dive time when they go on a dive holiday, and Seaventures Dive Rig will be the perfect place for you. Our guests are welcome to go for a dive for free at our House Reef (during operation hours, with a buddy and no DECO time), so you can make the most of your dive trip to Sabah, Malaysia.
What can you see below Seaventures Dive Rig? Our House Reef, the vast area both underneath and outside the footprint of the rig has become home to many species of fish and reef creatures. Located very close to Mabul Island, our House Reef is a mixture of flat natural reef, man-made artificial structures, and sandy bottom at a depth of between 12-16 meters.
When you first set off the lift (yes, you get lowered into the water from the dive deck with a mechanical lift!) and start descending down you will be greeted by schools of batfish, fusiliers, bannerfish, and snapper. Sharks, barracuda, and humpheads cruise around on a regular basis as well as sea turtles. If you look closely, a huge variety of macro life can be found and is perfect for underwater macro photography: Frogfish, ghost pipefish, nudibranch, flamboyant cuttlefish, and harlequin shrimp, to name a few. Moray eels and goliath groupers also call the House Reef their home.
With unlimited diving included in the dive package, you can enjoy spending as much time as you like exploring in the house reef. Many of our guests love to go for a dive at dusk and experience the reef in a different light.
LEARN TO DIVE / PADI 5 STAR IDC RESORT
Aside from running daily dive trips to the nearby islands (Sipadan, Mabul, and Kapalai islands) and offering unlimited free diving at our House Reef, we are also a PADI 5 STAR IDC resort, offering a wide range of PADI diving courses throughout the year. All of our PADI courses are conducted by qualified PADI instructors. Instructions and course materials are available both in English and Mandarin Chinese. If you are planning a dive trip to Malaysia, whether it is to learn to dive or to leisure dive, Seaventures Dive Rig is definitely an excellent choice!
